Design Development.
Task 10:
This week's research task involves revisiting the initial notes we made about our chosen Industry Set brief in Week 5. We need to consider questions like: Are we aligning with the demands of the brief? Does our approach align with our creative strategy? Are we adhering to our project plan? I'm delighted to confidently answer each question. The brief requested a poster, a digital element, and a touchpoint, and I precisely fulfilled these requirements, even adding extra elements. Regarding my creative strategy, it remained consistent, and I successfully found inspiration, keeping myself motivated throughout. In terms of project progress, I'm on track, managing my time effectively to meet deadlines. Additionally, I intentionally allowed extra time to let my creativity flow more freely.
Learning Objectives:
LO1: Research — Select and deploy appropriate research methodologies to inform the needs within a project.
LO4: Distil — Position a creative strategic insight that has been distilled and refined through an informed investigation.
LO5: Imagine — Deliver appropriate and innovative ideas that embrace risk, have contemporary relevance and question the boundaries of the discipline.
LO6: Make — Select and utilise relevant tools, skills and technologies in the delivery, iteration and sustainable production of an outcome.
LO7: Collaborate — Demonstrate inclusive and empathetic strategies to plan and execute a project across distributed collaborative situations.
LO8: Design — Realise a final solution that evidences its strategic journey and clear relationship between form and function.
LO9: Communicate — Communicate effectively in a range of contexts and situations to specialist and non-specialist audiences.
Archive Cards:
These archival cards systematically collect details like letter, name, date, time, material, printing process, items, and places, shedding light on the significance of overlooked daily artifacts.
Guess Cards:
These guess cards offer an enjoyable way for people to engage in the mystery of trying to guess and visualize the identity of various objects. Participants attempt to discern the material from which the letter is crafted, adding an element of curiosity and intrigue to the experience.
Typographic Zine:
My typographic zine is a heartfelt exploration of finding beauty in the unnoticed moments of our daily lives. It’s an emotional journey that seeks to evoke deep feelings and convey a powerful message about the profound significance of seemingly ordinary items. Through poignant typography and compelling narratives, the zine is crafted to stir the soul, urging readers to pause, reflect, and discover the extraordinary in the seemingly mundane, ultimately creating a moving and resonant experience.
Contextual Research:
Mixel Typography:
The Mixel Typography project served as a powerful inspiration for me in seamlessly combining diverse objects and employing mixed media to emulate randomness in my designs. This technique allows me to integrate various elements cohesively, resulting in a visually dynamic and unpredictable aesthetic.
What makes this approach unique is its ability to break away from traditional constraints, encouraging a freeform and experimental exploration of design possibilities. By embracing the unexpected and mixing different visual components, Mixel Typography offers a distinctive and innovative way to convey messages through dynamic and visually captivating compositions.
